Blockbuster Move: Alan Dye Switches from Apple to Meta’s Design Initiative

In a blockbuster move that has stunned Silicon Valley, Alan Dye is switching from Apple to Meta. Dye has been Apple’s chief of user interface design since 2015 and spent nearly 20 years helping shape the company’s iconic products. He will officially join Meta on December 31st to lead a new creative studio within Reality Labs.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the hire on Threads, revealing plans for a studio focused on merging design, fashion, and technology. Apple confirmed Dye’s departure, with CEO Tim Cook announcing Stephen Lemay as his replacement. This transition marks a significant moment in the ongoing competition between these tech giants.
