Omoda C7 1.6T Luxury Review: Strong Comfort, Weak Transmission

Date:

The Omoda C7 1.6T Luxury enters the market as a well-priced SUV alternative, offering generous interior space and an extended wheelbase that enhances practicality. Its 1.6-litre turbocharged engine delivers 145 kW and 290 Nm, providing adequate power for daily driving, though real-world fuel consumption sits higher than claimed.
Inside, the C7 impresses with excellent seating comfort, quality materials, and a large 614-litre boot that expands significantly with the rear seats folded. For families needing room without upgrading to a full-size SUV, it ticks many boxes.
However, the driving experience is held back by a jerky and hesitant dual-clutch transmission that struggles at low speeds and during uphill or downhill transitions. Driver-assistance systems, including lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control, often feel intrusive, with inconsistent corrections and unpredictable speed adjustments.
While the C7’s comfort, build quality, and value stand out, the drivetrain and assistance systems detract from what could otherwise be a strong all-round offering. Buyers may find better refinement in the electrified version.
