Wrexham Dominates Millwall 3-0 for First Championship Victory

Date:

Wrexham secured their first win of the Championship season with a commanding 3-0 victory against Millwall, enhancing their aspirations for promotion to the Premier League. This triumph in south London came after Wrexham’s season began with draws against Cardiff and Watford, followed by a home loss to Birmingham.

The breakthrough came when an unfortunate own goal by Zak Sturge put Wrexham ahead, as Issa Kaboré’s cross was deflected into the Millwall net during the first half. Kieffer Moore then extended the lead shortly after halftime with a powerful shot from around 20 yards. Jacques Ekomié wrapped up the scoring with a close-range finish, sealing a convincing win for Wrexham.

For Millwall, the defeat was another blow, as they have now conceded eight goals in their last two matches despite starting the season with two clean-sheet wins. Their troubles were further exacerbated by injuries to key players, striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre.

In other Championship action, Queens Park Rangers continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Cardiff at Loftus Road. Rumarn Burrell was the star for QPR, netting both goals, while Perry Ng managed to score for Cardiff. The win elevated QPR to 10 points from their first four matches.

Meanwhile, Burnley battled to a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at Turf Moor. Aidan Morris put Middlesbrough ahead in the first half, but Burnley responded with an equalizer from midfielder Ugo Raghouber shortly after the break. Elsewhere, Charlton maintained their unbeaten run, sharing points with West Brom in a 1-1 draw. Callum Styles initially gave West Brom the lead, only for Tyreece Campbell to level the score in the second half.
