South Africa is bracing for severe weather on Saturday, 29 November 2025, with heavy storms expected across five provinces. Forecasters warn of intense downpours, strong winds and large hail affecting Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and parts of the North West.
According to weather authorities, widespread thunderstorms may cause localised flooding, especially on vulnerable roads and low-lying bridges. Morning fog is expected in several regions before conditions turn cloudy and stormy by afternoon. Temperatures will range from cool to warm across most provinces, while the Western and Northern Cape will see cooler, cloudy conditions with light coastal rain later in the day.
A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued for the affected provinces. In addition, extremely high fire danger conditions are forecast for sections of the Northern Cape, including the Nama Khoi, Khai-Ma and Hantam Karoo municipalities.
Residents are urged to exercise caution, avoid flooded areas, and monitor official weather updates throughout the day.
