Severe Thunderstorm and Rain Alerts Issued for Three South African Provinces

A weather alert has been issued for three provinces in South Africa this Tuesday, 18 November 2025, with severe thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds expected in several regions. Authorities warn of potential damage to infrastructure, property, and essential services.
Gauteng:
Cloudy and cool conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers. UV index: High.
Mpumalanga:
Morning fog along the escarpment, followed by partly cloudy and cool to warm weather. Isolated showers and rain expected over the Highveld and escarpment.
Limpopo:
Cloudy morning with drizzle and fog in western and southern areas. Partly cloudy and warm later, with isolated showers and rain in central and southern regions.
North West:
Cloudy early in the day, then partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated thundershowers.
Free State:
Partly cloudy, windy, and cool to warm. Isolated thundershowers are expected, becoming scattered along the Lesotho border.
Northern Cape:
Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated thundershowers. Coastal winds will be moderate to fresh southerly.
Western Cape:
Fine, windy, and warm to hot, with very hot conditions in parts of the West Coast district. UV index: Very High.
Eastern Cape:
Partly cloudy with morning fog in places. Isolated showers and thundershowers expected, scattered in the northeast. Coastal winds will vary between north-easterly and south-easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal:
Morning fog over the interior, partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions. Isolated thundershowers, scattered in the west. UV index: Moderate.
Weather Alerts:
Yellow Level 2: Severe thunderstorms may cause localised damage to infrastructure, vehicles, property, and essential services.

Fire Danger: Extremely high fire risk over central Northern Cape and western Western Cape.

Residents are advised to stay alert, avoid risky outdoor activities, and follow official safety instructions.
