Trump Defends Iran Strikes, Cites Hiroshima as Parallel

Date:

President Donald Trump defended his decision to order strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, claiming these actions single-handedly ended the 12-day Iran-Israel war. He drew a controversial analogy to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, emphasizing the perceived decisive nature of the US intervention.
According to Trump, the “hell” Iran endured during the conflict, exacerbated by the US strikes, effectively curbed their nuclear ambitions. He maintained that Iran’s nuclear sites were “completely destroyed,” refuting intelligence reports that indicated a less impactful outcome.
The conflict was initiated by Israel’s bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, citing concerns about nuclear weapon development. Iran, however, insisted its nuclear program was for peaceful purposes. The 12 days of hostilities resulted in widespread damage and loss of life.
A ceasefire, which Trump reportedly brokered, appeared to be holding. Trump’s statements provide insight into his rationale behind the military actions taken during his presidency.
